Ryanair has decided to take legal action against a passenger who allegedly disrupted a flight and forced it to divert to Porto. According to the Irish airline this Wednesday, it is claiming up to 15,000 euros from this disruptive passenger for damages

The flight departed from Dublin to the island of Lanzarote on April 9, 2024. The low-cost airline stated that the "inexcusable behavior" of this person forced the flight to divert to Portugal, where it had to spend the night. The company estimates the costs of accommodation, passenger compensation, and landing at the Portuguese airport at 15,000 euros.

“We have initiated civil proceedings to recover these costs from this passenger,” the airline informed in a statement in which the alleged perpetrator was not named.

“Ryanair is committed to ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a safe and respectful environment, without unnecessary interruptions caused by a small number of unruly passengers," the company continued, which has suffered several incidents of this type in the last year on crossings between Northern Europe and Lanzarote.
