The Public Prosecutor's Office has clarified that it maintains the request for four years in prison for a crime of document forgery for the Seprona sergeant in Lanzarote, Gloria Moreno, specifying that what it did on the first day of the trial this Tuesday was to propose a possible alternative classification.

After that first day, different media interpreted that what the Prosecutor's Office had done was to withdraw the request for a prison sentence, including La Provincia, whose information was echoed by La Voz, which could not attend the hearing as it was held in Gran Canaria. However, the Public Prosecutor's Office has confirmed to this media outlet that what it presented was an alternative classification so that, in the event that the Provincial Court understands that the Seprona sergeant in Lanzarote did not commit the crime with intent, that is, intentionally, she should be convicted of serious recklessness.

In this case, the conviction would not entail imprisonment, but rather a fine and a one-year disqualification from employment or public office. However, the main request of the Public Prosecutor's Office remains that Gloria Moreno be sentenced to four years in prison. In addition, the agent who filed this complaint against Moreno is also involved in the case as an accuser, and is demanding six years in prison for her.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the document that Moreno presented to her superiors accusing this colleague of having given a `tip-off` to poachers of shearwaters included "false" statements and that the sergeant knew that they did not conform to reality.
