The Francisco de Vitoria Judicial Association (AJFV) through its territorial sections of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas have shown their most "absolute and firm support" for the agreement adopted last Friday by the Governing Council of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC). The judicial body lodged "a formal and forceful complaint" with the Government of the Canary Islands for the "repeated and serious incidents" of the "Atlante" judicial management system.

The AJFV has reported that this Monday "the situation of computer collapse persists". "The system remains inoperative, adding five consecutive days of extreme slowdowns and blockages that make daily work in the archipelago's judicial bodies impossible," they have warned.

"Unacceptable" Paralysis of the Administration of Justice

This association has pointed out that "it is unacceptable" that members of the Judiciary are "unable to carry out such an essential procedure as the electronic signature of judicial decisions." Thus, they have warned that this technical anomaly translates into a material and absolute paralysis of the public service."

The Francisco de Vitoria Judicial Association fully shares the alarm expressed by the TSJC regarding guard services. "The impossibility of processing urgent and unpostponable actions places Justice in the Canary Islands in an extremely serious situation, seriously endangering the protection of fundamental rights and directly violating the constitutional right to effective judicial protection," they indicated.

Demand for Urgent and Definitive Solutions

To conclude, they pointed out that members of the Judiciary in the Canary Islands "cannot continue to perform their duties in these conditions of constant technological precariousness," which "also unfairly affect their performance and the public's perception of the functioning of Justice, for reasons that are entirely external to the judicial bodies themselves."

Therefore, the Francisco de Vitoria Judicial Association joins the demand of the TSJ of the Canary Islands and requires the regional government to immediately implement a technical, comprehensive, and definitive contingency plan that puts an end to the structural deficiencies of the Atlante system once and for all.
