The Prosecutor's Office is requesting three years in prison for fraud against a man accused of having convinced a woman looking for a house to buy a motorcycle and a high-end mobile phone from him as an advance payment for a property that he never handed over to her in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

In an oral hearing scheduled for this Wednesday in the second section of the Audiencia de Las Palmas, the defendant will have to answer for having led the complainant to sign two loans, one for the amount of 10,680.64 euros and another for 1,035.95 euros, "without at any time intending to provide her with the promised housing."

This is stated in the prosecution's indictment against him, which details that the events began in February 2022, when the defendant proposed to the tenant - who never actually became one - that she sign a first loan for him to buy a motorcycle.

This loan would have a duration of five years, the period that would equate to the rental season as he promised, and which the complainant finally contracted, committing to pay an initial monthly installment of 201.06 euros and 59 more monthly installments, at a rate of 177.62 euros each, the text states. And he adds that he then convinced her to also finance a mobile phone for him, signing a second loan for the amount of 1,035.95 euros, to be paid in 24 installments of 43.16 euros

The fake landlord, who has a criminal record, never actually handed over the property, a situation the Public Prosecutor's Office describes as ongoing fraud.

The Prosecutor's Office demands that the accused be sentenced to three years in prison, and that, in addition, he must compensate the victim with an amount of 11,716.59 euros, plus legal interest
