The First Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try J.L.B.D. next Wednesday, May 28, accused of drug trafficking in the Altavista neighborhood, in Arrecife.

The Prosecutor's Office accuses him of "acting with total contempt for individual and collective health" and of being caught by the National Police when he was allegedly going to sell six packages of cocaine at 12:00 noon, in the middle of the coronavirus lockdown on April 7, 2020.

In total, the accused allegedly carried four grams of cocaine, with a value of 252 euros on the illicit market. In addition, 30 euros in small bills were seized from him.

The Public Ministry classifies the facts as a crime against public health in the form of substances that cause serious damage to health. For this reason, it is asking for five and a half years in prison for the accused, who was already convicted in 2015 for drug trafficking, as well as special disqualification for the right to passive suffrage during the term of the sentence and that he pay a fine of 756.7 euros.

Thus, the Prosecutor's Office requests that in the event of being convicted, the accused, a native of Guinea Bissau, serve the sentence in full in Spain to "ensure the defense of the legal order" and "restore confidence in the validity of the infringed regulations."

After serving the sentence, it asks that he be expelled from the national territory when he accesses the third degree or is granted parole. In addition, that he be prohibited from returning to Spain in five years from the date on which he is expelled and that it be agreed to archive any open procedure to obtain a work or residence permit in the country.
