The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will judge next week another "mule" who arrived on January 23 at the Lanzarote airport with 298 grams of cocaine, part of it inside his body.
The Prosecutor's Office is asking for six years in prison for him, applying recidivism as an aggravating factor, since he has a criminal record for similar acts. In addition, it requests that a fine of 102,894 euros be imposed on him.
The accused has been in provisional prison since January 25, two days after being arrested at the airport, after arriving on the island on a flight from Gran Canaria.
In an initial search, the agents found drugs in his clothes, and later confirmed that he was also carrying more substances inside his body. In total, he was carrying three packages of cocaine, of about 100 grams each.
"Such substance, in the illicit market to which it was destined, would have reached a value of 34,298 euros," says the Prosecutor's Office, which classifies the events as a crime against public health, in the form of substances that cause serious damage to health.
In its indictment, it also demands "full compliance with the sentence, as the expulsion" of the accused does not proceed, due to "the penalty of more than five years in prison requested and the seriousness of the events."
