The Prosecutor's Office is requesting 10 years in prison for three defendants accused of assaulting two people in a leisure venue in the Atlántico Shopping Center in Puerto del Carmen, who will be tried next Wednesday, November 6, in Gran Canaria by the Sixth Section of the Provincial Court. Likewise, the Public Prosecutor's Office is requesting compensation for the victims for a total of 61,706 euros.

According to the indictment, the events took place more than eight years ago, specifically around 03:00 on January 21, 2011, inside the Nikki Beach establishment in the Atlántico Shopping Center.

There, the Public Prosecutor's Office maintains that the three defendants "started an argument in the course of which, acting in common agreement and with the intention of undermining the physical integrity of the victims", proceeded "to hit one of them in the head with a glass" and "to kick and punch" against him and a second person, "causing them to fall to the ground" suffering a "physical impairment".

One of the victims suffered "loss of vision" in one eye

As a result of the events, one of the victims suffered a "penetrating wound" in one eye for which he had to be operated on "twice" and which caused him "loss of vision" making him unable to have "binocular vision". A "functional impairment" that "diminishes his physical fitness for driving transport vehicles or any other activity where a vision of optical depth dimension is required", according to the Prosecutor's Office.

In addition, he suffered several wounds to his scalp, face, hand and leg for which he needed "surgical medical treatment consisting of sutures" leaving as sequelae a "medium aesthetic damage". In total, the Prosecutor's Office indicates that his wounds took "147 days to heal, of which 15 were of hospital admission and the rest prevented him from performing his usual occupations".

As for the second injured party, he also suffered "a physical impairment", although his injuries "required only one facultative assistance without the need for surgical medical treatment, taking three days to heal, one of which prevented him from performing his usual occupations, without any sequelae remaining".

The Public Prosecutor's Office considers that the events constitute a crime of injury and a misdemeanor of injury and, therefore, requests a sentence of 10 years in prison for the accused and a fine for each of them of 600 euros. Likewise, it requests that they compensate "jointly and severally" the victim who suffered the most injuries with a total of 61,554 euros and the second injured party with 152 euros.
