The Ministry of Universities of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), announces that the call for grants for an amount of 290,000 euros to finance short stays of research personnel in doctoral programs will be published in these weeks.

The grants, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), aim to promote advanced training and international mobility of research personnel in the archipelago.

Migdalia Machín, Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the regional executive, pointed out that "these grants will allow our researchers to access reference centers outside the islands, acquiring knowledge and experiences that, upon their return, will enrich our academic community".

The grants are aimed at researchers participating in active calls for grant programs for the training of research personnel or predoctoral contracts of the Government of the Canary Islands. These grants will cover the costs of accommodation, meals, travel and health care during the stay at the destination research centers.

The deadline for submitting applications will begin the day after the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands and will end on October 30, 2024, or when the funds available are exhausted.

With this initiative, the Ministry "reinforces its commitment to research, the expansion of knowledge and access to training, ensuring that Canary talent can develop in optimal conditions without economic barriers becoming an impediment to achieving academic excellence".

In that sense, the ACIISI "plays a key role in the implementation of these grants, ensuring that young researchers can access the opportunities they need for their advanced training." "Mobility is essential for the growth of knowledge and to establish networks that strengthen the scientific and technological development of the Canary Islands," the Minister stressed.
