The university tuition fees of the Canary Islands are the third cheapest in Spain

The most expensive degrees in Spain are Computer Science, Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, while Arts and Humanities are among the most economical

The public universities of Canary Islands are the third with the cheapest degree tuition prices in Spain, set at an average of 12.50 euros per credit. In the second enrollment in the Canary Islands public universities it rises to 22.50 euros, and in the third enrollment, to 42.40 euros.

Navarra (19.29 euros per credit) and the Community of Madrid (18.55) have the most expensive tuition prices while studying at Galician universities is up to 61% cheaper, although in general the average price of credits has fallen in the last ten years.

According to the Statistics of Public University Prices published this Friday by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the average price of degree qualifications in Spanish public universities in the 2024-25 academic year has decreased by 25% in a decade and stands at 15.37 euros on average in Spain.

This is the lowest average price in the entire historical series and the decrease in first enrollment has been 5.26 euros on average compared to 2014-2015.

This average price is calculated as an arithmetic average of the prices per credit of the qualifications taught, since the prices of the credits vary according to the degrees.

In this sense, the highest average price is that of the Degree qualifications in Computer Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Industry and Construction, where in some cases they exceed 17 euros per credit.

The degrees of Arts and Humanities, Education, Business, Administration and Law have the cheapest credits, at around an average of between 14.15 and 13.72 euros.

However, the first enrollments in degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, Industry and Construction have also been the ones that have decreased the most since 2017-2018, at rates of between 26% and 27%.

 

The cheapest prices in Galicia, Asturias and the Canary Islands

The highest average prices are concentrated in the Foral Community of Navarra (19.29 euros), the Community of Madrid (18.55 euros) and Catalonia (18.15 euros), while the lowest are found in Galicia (11.95 euros), Asturias (12.34 euros), the Canary Islands (12.5 euros) and Andalusia (12.62 euros).

On the other hand, the average price of enabling Master's degrees or those linked to a regulated profession in the first enrollment has decreased in recent years, going from 30.39 euros per credit in the 2014-15 academic year to 15.76 euros in the 2024-2025 academic year, which represents a reduction of around 48%.

By autonomous communities, the highest price is in the Foral Community of Navarra and in the Community of Madrid, with 20.2 and 18.76 euros per credit, respectively. In Canary Islands, the average price is 12.68 euros, six cents more than in the past year.

In addition, in the 2024-2025 academic year, the average price in the first enrollment of Master's degrees that are not enabling or linked to a regulated profession is 30.04 euros per credit, which represents a decrease of 13.84 euros compared to the 2014-2015 academic year.

According to the statistics, the Community of Madrid has the highest prices per credit in this type of qualification, while the lowest prices per credit are found in Galicia, Canary Islands (13.95 euros at the University of La Laguna and 13.60 at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) and Andalusia.
