The president of the CEOE of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Pedro Afonso, assured this Tuesday that "the businessmen have no problem in hiring the interns paying the Social Security contribution".
Therefore, they have been surprised that the public universities of the islands say that the obligation to register with Social Security from October 1 to students who carry out training practices may dissuade companies and public entities that collaborate in their programs from continuing to host them.
Pedro Afonso recalled that there is an agreement for more than a year, by which the cost of an intern to companies will be 8 euros per month, an amount "easily" assumable and that is also a "social duty".
The president of the CEOE stressed that this approach not agreed with the employers is also surprising, since it is unilateral from the public universities.
Pedro Alfonso has said that the problem will be the financing of public universities but it is "very far" from being the responsibility of employers.
He also stated that the employers have consulted with the private universities associated with the CEOE, and "none" has problems to continue with the practices, which, in addition, are the "great asset" for the employment of graduates to improve the practices.
The CEOE says that employers will pay "without problem" the Social Security of the interns
They calculate the payment, which will be mandatory from October, at 8 euros per month, "easily assumable by companies"
