The Mercedes Medina Díaz Association has made this Thursday morning the delivery of its aid in its eleventh edition, course 2023-24 for university students of Lanzarote who have "good academic record and who prove to have scarce economic resources".
Thirteen students have been awarded the scholarship for an amount of 3,600 euros that will be delivered in fractional amounts during the current school year that begins now in September. The Association interacts with its students and is interested in their academic life, they report.
There is a wide range of careers of the scholarship recipients for this course: Business Administration and Management, Occupational Therapy, Medicine, Psychology, Foreign Language, Fine Arts, Law-Economics, Translation and Interpretation, Aeronautical Engineering and Social Work.
In this course we have two scholarship recipients who reach the fifth year of medicine and two students who graduate, one in Social Work and another in Fine Arts. The university destinations are also diverse: University of Las Palmas, La Laguna, Extremadura, Granada, Seville, Valladolid and Complutense-Madrid.
The Mercedes Medina Díaz Association has covered "more than eighty scholarships since its creation" and has the business support for this edition of "eight companies": Wineries, Vega de Yuco, Taba Control, SPAR Lanzarote, Lineas Romero Foundation, Comunigestión, S P L, Cala Lanzarote, Suite Hoteles and Grupo Cicar-Overcame.
The event was attended by the new Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation, Culture and Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ms. Migdalia Machín; Maite Corujo representing Social Affairs and the Councilor of Education of the City Council of Arrecife Abigail González.
In addition, the award ceremony was given by the president of the Association Juan Cruz Sepúlveda and other members of the association, such as businessmen and authorities.
