At first glance, the average expenditure per day of each tourist who visited Lanzarote between April and June of this year increased by 7%, from 151.2 euros last year to 162.9 euros this spring, according to data published by the Lanzarote Data Center based on the latest survey by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
However, when observing the breakdown of expenditure, it is clear that most of the increase occurs in international or national transport, i.e., the flight, which last year accounted for 37.9 euros per day and this year amounts to 46 euros.
Expenditure on accommodation barely increased, from 69.1 euros last year to 70 euros this year.
The increase in spending on local transport amounted to less than one euro, rising from 9.8 euros per day in the spring of 2023 to 10.7 last quarter.Regarding food, each tourist spent 23.9 euros per day in the second quarter of the year, while last year it was 22.7 euros.
Daily expenditure on recreation, culture, and sports activities was 7.1 euros this year, compared to 6.7 euros last year.
The meager expenditure on shopping did not even change and remains, as last year, 4.5 euros per day.
