Between January and May, Lanzarote received a total of 1,223,992 tourists, representing a 23.3% increase compared to the same period in 2022, according to the Lanzarote Data Center.

Numerous tourist markets are increasing their arrival figures. A particular case is that of Ireland, from where 135,765 people have arrived, representing a 53.4% increase. The Celtic tiger represents the island's second international market in terms of volume and importance.

The dependence on the British market

Despite the increase in arrivals from the aforementioned markets, the island remains highly dependent on the performance of the British market, which accounts for nearly half of the arrivals. Between January and May, 592,835 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom, representing a 28.1% growth compared to the same period in 2022.

In May, the island received a total of 234,260 visitors, which translates to an 8.4% increase compared to the same month last year.

Among them, more than half came from the United Kingdom, with 121,978 tourists, representing a 9.4% increase compared to May 2022.

The Irish market, with 29,245 tourists and a 25.8% increase, and the French market, with 16,499 tourists and an 11.5% increase, grew at a faster rate than the British market.
