The counselor of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism, Ángel Vázquez, visited today the Mirador del Río and Jameos del Agua to accompany the workers in the “official” presentation of their new uniforms.
The garments are inspired by the original designs created by César Manrique. Thus, the restaurant staff of the Mirador del Río have been wearing since today the traditional blue striped uniform, with the maitre in lilac, while the room staff of Jameos del Agua wear their mythical orange ones, also lilac for the maitre. Guards, security guards, and cleaning staff also have new uniforms.
On June 4th, the workers of the Islote de Fermina and Cueva de los Verdes premiered their uniforms.
“We are immersed in a process of transformation that recovers an essential part of this Entity,” Vázquez explained during the visit. “A process,” he stressed, “that speaks of what we were and what we are; that speaks of César Manrique and Lanzarote; of island identity and ethnographic heritage.”
In the coming weeks, the uniforms for the remaining centers, the Casa Museo del Campesino and the Jardín de Cactus, will be presented.
