The Papagayo Camping Area, managed by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, has reached 98% occupancy during Holy Week.
The Cabildo has indicated that "this figure occurs for the first time on these dates." Thus, "currently only seven reservations remain available for small cabins, reflecting the high demand and the good reception of the improvements recently made to the site."
The councilor responsible for the Camping Area, Samuel Martín, has celebrated this data as "a clear sign that the investments and efforts to improve the facilities have had a very positive impact both on the user experience and on the conservation of the environment."
"We have opted for a more efficient and sustainable management of the campsite, improving basic services, accessibility, and safety, always respecting the natural environment. The level of occupancy we are seeing this Holy Week demonstrates that we are moving in the right direction," Martín stated.
The intervention of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has involved the "optimization of energy efficiency," with the installation of lithium batteries that provide 150 kW/h, and the incorporation of three new efficient chargers. In addition, a new 25-meter walkway has been acquired for safe access to the bathroom for people with reduced mobility.
Another of the interventions of the Area managed by Samuel Martín has been the placement of 14 water connection columns for users, as well as the repair of the main water tank, with an approximate capacity of 60 cubic meters. Likewise, the laundry area has been renovated, with 13 new stainless steel sinks, as well as various improvements to the pavement or repairs in the barbecue area, signage, and waste collection, including the restoration with mortar of manholes and beacons.
Improvements in electrical safety have come with the replacement of electrical connections. These actions have involved an investment of more than 100,000 euros, the result of strategic planning by the Cabildo of Lanzarote in collaboration with the Yaiza City Council, which has contributed to the conditioning of access and landscape improvements in the environment.
"Our goal is to consolidate Papagayo as a model of orderly, sustainable, and safe camping, befitting a natural space as emblematic as this one. And we are achieving this thanks to the joint work of the institutions and the commitment of those who make responsible use of the area," added the councilor.
The Papagayo Camping Area will remain open until April 20, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy this privileged enclave with all the guarantees of safety and comfort. For more information or reservations, those interested can do so through the web.
