Canary Islands Car, CICAR, presented the La Graciosa Audio Guide at the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur-2022) by the hand of the company's CEO, Mamerto Cabrera. The event was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, and the President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo.

This initiative completes the Audio Guide of the Canary Islands, which until now was composed of the remaining seven islands. The La Graciosa Audio Guide can be used by anyone who visits the island and travels it in whole or in part, on foot or by bicycle.

"As everyone knows, on the island of La Graciosa there are no paved roads or rental vehicles. However, at CICAR we decided to create an Audio Guide about La Graciosa given its official status as the eighth island of the Archipelago," said Mamerto Cabrera.

The La Graciosa Audio Guide has been published in four languages: Spanish, English, German and French. It is a free service and can be downloaded from the company's website via a mobile application. This app disseminates the values and attractions of each of the eight Canary Islands in a brief and entertaining way.

After downloading it and selecting the language, there are two ways to listen to the Audio Guide. The first, A la carte, and in this case, when approaching one of the places, the user selects in the application the number that identifies it, giving beginning the audition of the musical setting and the narration. When doing so, a voice describes the most interesting aspects of the place that is being traveled on a subtle musical background. And the second, Tour mode that consists of freely touring the island and it will be the application itself that selects, automatically and through geolocation, the track that should be listened to when the user approaches one of the points of interest.

The Audio Guide of the eighth island consists of 11 tracks: Welcome; Everything you should know about La Graciosa; La Graciosa, a bit of history; El Río; Advice when touring La Graciosa; Caleta del Sebo; Beaches of La Graciosa; Playa de Las Conchas; The sea of Chinijo; The year Humboldt stepped on La Graciosa; Two books about La Graciosa; and, finally, the Cabrera Medina Group.

La Graciosa, eighth island of the Canary Islands

La Graciosa was recognized as the eighth inhabited Canary Island after the reform of the Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands in 2018. This novelty establishes that the spatial scope of the Autonomous Community includes the seven islands with their own administration, as well as the island of La Graciosa and the remaining islets that make up the Chinijo Archipelago.
La Graciosa has about 750 inhabitants and has the status of protected natural area. It is administratively attached to Lanzarote and is part of the municipality of Teguise. It extends for about 29 square kilometers of surface and has two population centers: Caleta del Sebo and the houses of Pedro Barba.
