The 23rd edition of the Tribuna Fitur Jorge Vila Fradera Award has recognized the work entitled 'Analysis and impact of knowledge and innovation in immigrant entrepreneurship in the tourism sector', by Pedro Manuel Calero Lemes, from the University School of Tourism of Lanzarote, and Desiderio Juan García Almeida, from the Department of Economics and Business Management of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The award granted by the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Tourism Experts (AECIT), Vila Fradera, has been announced during the celebration of the fair that takes place until next Sunday at Ifema Madrid and recognizes each year the best academic research work related to the tourism sector.
The objective of this call is to select an unpublished research work on tourism, edit it and disseminate its edition in the academic and training world, Ifema Madrid has reported in a statement.
The work has focused on describing the sources and origin of knowledge of immigrant entrepreneurs in the tourism sector according to the needs of starting, operating and managing their new tourism companies in the destinations.
It also studies the level of innovation of new immigrant companies in the tourism sector and analyzes the impact of innovation in new immigrant companies on the business performance of the tourism sector, as well as the influence of immigrant knowledge sources on the innovation of their new tourism sector ventures.
The jury, composed of a Technical Scientific Committee, has been composed of Felio José Bauza Martorell, from the Universitat de les Illes Balears and President of AECIT; Francisco Javier Melgosa Arcis, from the University of Salamanca and Vice President of AECIT; Libertad Troitiño Torralba, from the Complutense University of Madrid; Berta Ferrer Rosell, from the Universitat de Lleida; and María Valcarce Rodríguez, Director of FITUR.
