The occupancy of tourist apartments in Lanzarote was the highest in the Canary Islands, reaching 85%, while Tenerife followed with 76.6% and Fuerteventura with 71.7%.
Regarding the volume of overnight stays, the tourist apartments in Lanzarote exceeded 6.7 million, not far from the number of nights reached in Gran Canaria with 7.4 million. In Tenerife there were 8.5 million and in Fuerteventura 1.7.
This is certified by the latest occupancy survey in extra-hotel tourist accommodation from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which includes apartments, campsites, rural houses and hostels. The study does not include holiday homes.
In general, non-hotel tourist establishments in the Canary Islands registered more than 25.8 million overnight stays in 2024, 3.1% more than in 2023, which placed the archipelago as the leading Spanish destination in this type of accommodation.
Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist establishments throughout Spain totaled 142.6 million in 2024, 3% more than a year earlier, marking a new historical record that exceeds that of 2023 (137 million) and those prior to the pandemic.
According to figures published this Friday by the INE, the average prices of tourist apartments (which do not include holiday homes) rose by 7.1%, in campsites by 5.2%, and in rural houses by 4.5%.
The Canary Islands was the preferred destination, with more than 25.8 million overnight stays, 3.1% more than in 2023, and the United Kingdom consolidated its position as the leading issuing market in tourist apartments, with 16.2 million overnight stays, 2.7% more than the previous year.
