The Canary Islands have scheduled 3.9 million air seats from the Peninsula for this summer, which represents a 14% increase compared to last year, as reported this Friday by the Canary Islands Government on the occasion of the celebration of Navartur, Reyno de Navarra International Tourism Fair.

Turismo de Canarias participates in Navartur, which celebrates its 18th edition this year, with special emphasis on nature, rural, cultural, enogastronomic, active and sustainable tourism.

This event, which is held in Pamplona, brings together a varied profile of visitors in which three types predominate: retired people interested in enjoying nature, culture and gastronomy; young couples who are inclined to mix sun and beach with active tourism; and, finally, families with children looking for destinations with beaches, leisure centers, visits to old town centers and small walking routes.

Last year, a total of 46,435 people attended Navartur, 66% more than the previous year, a really significant number compared to the local population, since the population of Pamplona amounts to approximately 200,000 inhabitants.

Navartur is not only advertised for the people of Navarra, but also to the nearby provinces of Álava, Guipúzcoa and La Rioja.

Up to 150 exhibitors and co-exhibitors are present at this tourist event, in which the Canary Islands participate with their own stand, accompanied by Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Palma and El Hierro.

Navartur visitors have the airport of Pamplona as their first option to travel to the islands, which has 11,748 air seats for the summer season, but they are also willing to reach the Canary Islands from other nearby aerodromes, such as Bilbao (with 209,648 seats for this summer, 15% more than in 2023) or Zaragoza (15,708 seats).
