Lanzarote received last year 3.46 million visitors, more than ever in its history and 1.7% more than the previous year, according to figures from the latest Statistics of Tourist Movements at Borders from ISTAC, provided by the Lanzarote Data Center.
Among the markets that increased the most is included the national, which grew by 5.9% during 2025, “consolidating its recovery and reinforcing its strategic role within the diversification of the destination”, according to the Society for the External Promotion of Lanzarote (SPEL).Likewise, the strength of traditional markets such as the British, the main issuer to the island, as well as the Irish and Italian, which register positive behaviors throughout the year, is maintainedIn the whole of the exercise, Lanzarote received 1,685,496 tourists from the **United Kingdom, with an increase of 0.9%**, while **Ireland grew by 7.4% and the Italian market by 5.4%**.In contrast, the annual balance reflects a decrease in the German market, a trend that is repeated in most of the Canary Islands, although not with as much intensity as on the rabbit island In the case of Lanzarote, Germany registered a drop of 3.2% in 2025, with 259,517 tourists compared to 268,077 the previous year.
“This behavior responds to macroeconomic factors and uncertainty in the German economy, which is affecting spending and travel planning in this market, traditionally a priority for the destination,” explains Fernández. “The evolution of Germany will be one of the aspects to follow closely in Lanzarote's tourism promotion strategy,” he concludes.
Regarding spending, in the third quarter of 2025, it was close to 190 euros per person per day, the highest record in the Canary Islands, pending the data for the last quarter in which many hotels lowered or froze prices on the rabbit island.
