One of the major concerns of Lanzarote's citizens is the state of healthcare, its waiting lists, and its lack of resources, which has been reflected in all sociological surveys in recent years.

The majority of Lanzarote residents believe that the island's healthcare system is not prepared to absorb the volume of medical services required by the growing number of tourists visiting the island.

Specifically, 63.9% of Lanzarote residents think that tourism overwhelms healthcare services, according to the latest Survey of Socioeconomic Habits and Confidence (ECOSOC) published by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).

This is the highest percentage among all the Canary Islands regarding the perception of tourism's impact on healthcare. The average for the archipelago was 44.5%.

The second most concerned island with this issue is Fuerteventura, where 54.3% agree that tourism overwhelms healthcare services.

The lowest percentage is recorded in La Palma, where only 28.6% of the population agrees with this statement. Next is Gran Canaria, where 37% of residents believe that tourism overwhelms healthcare.

In La Gomera, those who think this way are 44% of the population, while in Tenerife, 48.3% of respondents answered affirmatively. In El Hierro, it is 49.7%.
