The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, personally conveyed detailed information about the project to modernize the Playa Blanca Maritime Avenue to the Director General of Coasts and Maritime Space Management of the Government of the Canary Islands, Antonio Manuel Acosta.

Specifically in the stretch between the southern port and the border separating the Playa Dorada and Barceló hotels: "it is a **municipal project** that has already been drafted, is ambitious and necessary, and involves an investment of more than **5.2 million** euros," according to Óscar Noda, who met last Wednesday in Gran Canaria with the Director of Coastal Affairs, accompanied by the Yaiza Councilor for Public Works, Ángel Lago, and the municipal technician designated to supervise this initiative.

Yaiza expects to finance the execution of the project with funds from the Autonomous Community; moreover, the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Tourism Quality of the Government presided over by Fernando Clavijo has also had the project since February.

The mayor expects the Government to "include it in the amendment process for the 2026 regional budget. Our idea is to undertake the project **in sections and phases**, counting on the collaboration of restaurants, bars, and businesses, not only during the intervention period but also in respecting the use of public space."

The City Council plans an aesthetic and functional renovation of the promenade with changes to the paving and street furniture, the provision of shaded and rest areas, the replacement of public service networks and uniform lighting design, among other actions. Meanwhile, Yaiza will imminently carry out the repair and replacement of railings in deteriorated sections, for which it already has a spending proposal.

Antonio Manuel Acosta emphasizes that "the Directorate General of Coasts of the Canary Islands must work hand in hand with municipalities to improve our coastline. Coordination and dialogue between administrations are essential to get down to the ground and seek the best for our Islands".

Óscar Noda also highlights the Administration's intention to "take advantage of the execution of the boardwalk project to **improve the sanitation network** in the area around the town's beach. Since we are going to lift all the pavement, it makes common sense to change pipes and modernize the pumping station located near the taxi stand." This, in particular, is a complementary project that requires a separate financial allocation.

The municipal visit to Costas also served to present Yaiza's idea of ordering and fixing the dirt strip of land located between the Iberostar Lanzarote Park and Playa Flamingo hotels. The mayor reports that "Costas views very favorably our ability to intervene there. It is an access area to the beach full of cars parked in a disorderly manner, and we are convinced that it can clearly be improved. The objective is to define its use, build a pedestrian walkway, and fix the ravine".
