The British airline Jet2.com has announced the opening on March 28, 2024 of its 11th base in the United Kingdom, at the John Lennon Airport in Liverpool, which will bring direct flights between Lanzarote and the birthplace of the Beatles.

The new weekly frequency between the island and Liverpool will be added to the current offer of direct flights from Easyjet, which offers two direct weekly frequencies on Wednesdays and Saturdays between the island and the city in the north of England.

In addition to Lanzarote, Jet2.com will launch direct flights to Alicante, Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura. In total, there will be almost 148,000 arrival seats for the eight destinations. Of these, almost 70,000 are for the Canary Islands and 56,000 for the Balearic Islands.

The company's CEO, Steve Heapy, considers the new offer "another demonstration of Jet2.com's commitment to Spain and its archipelagos; the almost 70,000 seats offered to the Canary Islands will position Jet2.com as the leading airline between Liverpool and the archipelago."
