The Cabildo of Lanzarote welcomed this Saturday, July 2, the first flight operated by Binter that arrives to the Island from Funchal. Flight NT 971 landed at the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport at 4:15 p.m. and the CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, was present at the reception.
The president and Tourism Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, highlighted the company's commitment to the population of Lanzarote and the importance of the new entry into operation of the Funchal destination, which offers a new route for the summer.
The councilor, for his part, highlighted the importance of this new connection “for the creation and strengthening of a link between two culturally rich areas and that, surely, will contribute to make the charms of Lanzarote increasingly known outside our borders.”
“We appreciate that the company is launching this route as it combines with the strategy aimed at diversifying tourism activity,” he said.
In addition, Perdomo pointed out that “we hope that the airline will continue with its expansion in connections between islands” and expresses his confidence “that it will incorporate new routes between Lanzarote and other destinations in the future.”
For his part, the Commercial and Marketing Director of Binter, Miguel Ángel Suárez, highlighted the effort made by the company to open new direct connections with destinations that were not connected to the Canary Islands until now. “Our objective is focused on facilitating travel to and from the Islands, to continue betting on the connectivity of the Archipelago and the promotion of tourism,” he said.
In this sense, he hopes that this route will be attractive to everyone, in both directions, given the infinity of plans and activities that can be developed in these destinations.
“We started flying to Funchal, the capital of Madeira, in 2005. Since then, we have progressively increased our programming, to currently have seven routes with the Portuguese Archipelago, also from the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura. Madeira offers endless plans, and is a perfect destination for lovers of nature and active tourism. In addition, we operate the internal route between Madeira and its neighboring island, Porto Santo, which is also an excellent alternative to enjoy a period of rest and disconnection,” he added.
The connections from Lanzarote will be on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and departures from Madeira will be at 2:40 p.m. This operation is possible thanks to the change in the operation of the new Binter base in Lanzarote that allows increasing flights at the first and last hour of the day.
