The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, attended this Wednesday, January 18, the opening ceremony of the International Tourism Fair 'Fitur 2023'. With the starting signal of Fitur, an agenda begins with some 67 meetings and meetings that the Lanzarote delegation will hold with representatives from various countries, "with the aim of consolidating the destination worldwide and promoting the idea of sustainable tourism extended on the island", they point out from the Cabildo.

“We seek to follow the path of the Premium concept and the aesthetics with which César Manrique has made us unique, so our work in the almost 70 meetings we will hold will be to open new doors to markets that converge with our idiosyncrasy and strengthen those that are expanding and that respond to our model of responsible and sustainable tourism,” detailed the president and Minister of Tourism of the Island Council, María Dolores Corujo.

Corujo expressed her satisfaction "for being able to attend this important fair one more year and for having been able to successfully leave behind the stage of COVID-19 that tarnished both this event and the tourism sector throughout the world."

In this line, the president highlighted on this opening day that “the idea to be developed during these days in Madrid will be that of an island that does not want more tourists or beds, but less mass and more income, more quality and maintain the uniqueness of the destination at all costs.”

This annual event will take place until January 22 and will bring together tens of thousands of people related to the tourism sector.
