Pending the publication of December data, between January and November 2022, Lanzarote's tourist accommodations had earned 27 million euros more than in the same period of 2019, with 10% fewer tourists.
Until the end of November, the island's tourist accommodations had collected nearly 668 million euros in 2022. The number of tourists arriving on the island during that period was just over 2.5 million people.
In the same period of 2019, Lanzarote's tourist accommodations had earned almost 641 million, but tourist arrivals amounted to 2.8 million people.
The main reason is the increase in rates. If in 2019, only in August did it exceed 100 euros on average per night (it was specifically 101.43 euros), in 2022 that figure was exceeded in April, as well as in July, August, and October. Furthermore, the average rate in March, September, and November 2022 was very close to that figure.
And that's even though stays are shorter. All months of 2022 recorded shorter stays than in the same months of 2019, except for August 2022 when the average stay was 8.43 days, slightly longer than the average stay in August 2019.
