In the first five months of 2026, Lanzarote has received more than 1,461,823 tourists arriving by plane. This figure represents a 0.2% decrease in visitors compared to January-May 2025. This is according to data from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC). The number of travelers, referred to as the floating population, is much higher than the resident population: 166,878.

With this data, Lanzarote registers two consecutive months with a decrease in travelers. The most significant drop occurred last April, when visitors fell by 7.9% compared to the fourth month of the previous year.

Despite these slight decreases, Lanzarote receives more tourists than in pre-pandemic years. For example, between January and May 2019, the year before the coronavirus health crisis, the island received more than 1.2 million tourists. Currently, in five months, Lanzarote has received around 166,000 more tourists than then (12.84% more).

Looking at the month-by-month data, March had the highest influx of visitors, with 325,463. Meanwhile, May had the lowest number of visitors, with 259,671 tourists.

Last year, 2025, Lanzarote closed the year with 3.4 million tourists arriving by plane to the island. Added to this figure were more than 660,000 cruise passengers who arrived at the Port of Arrecife. In total, more than four million visitors.
