The first six months of the year saw 1.7 million tourists arrive in Lanzarote, almost the same number as between January and June of last year, when 5,000 more tourists were recorded, but the country mix has undergone some changes.
The market that has grown the most compared to last year is the Italian (+23%), going from 42,869 arrivals in the first half of 2025 to a total of 55,891 during the same period in 2026.
The German market is also recovering somewhat, although still far from the figures of previous decades. Compared to last year, arrivals from Germany increased by 17% in the first six months of the year, going from about 145,000 tourists last year to nearly 170,000 this year.
The British, Irish, and Dutch markets remained practically the same as last year. Between January and June 2026, 884,720 people arrived from UK airports, 193,157 from Ireland, and 43,922 from the Netherlands.
The Belgian market has also grown by the same percentage (+17%), going from 26,704 Belgian tourists in the first half of 2025 to a total of 31,404 in the first six months of this year.
On the other hand, there has been a huge drop in arrivals from the Nordic countries. If between January and June of last year 57,790 tourists arrived, this year the figure has fallen to 32,131 people, which is equivalent to a drop of 44%.
The French market also fell (-6.4%), going from 119,509 travelers in the first half of 2025 to a total of 112,309 in the first six months of 2026.
National tourism decreased slightly (-2.4%). If between January and June of last year there were 140,366 people arriving from national airports, this year there have been 136,964.
In addition, the number of arrivals from "other countries" decreased notably, by 14.8% less. Specifically, between January and June, 78,881 people from countries not previously mentioned arrived, compared to 92,608 who arrived last year during the same period.
