The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the CEO of CACT Lanzarote, Benjamín Perdomo, and the CEO of SPEL, Héctor Fernández, attended this Monday, November 7, the inauguration of the World Travel Market 2022 in London.

This first major tourism fair since the end of the pandemic is attended by the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto, among other political authorities, and will last until this Wednesday. During the three days, the Island Council will hold 33 meetings with British and other countries' tourism agents, entities and organizations.

The CEO of CACT, Benjamín Perdomo, highlighted that “our first objective here is to verify first-hand the strength of the British market, which points to a great growth for the winter period, and to continue promoting sustainability in the sector through the more than 30 meetings we organize.”

“Thanks to these meetings, we open the doors to new markets, to different tourist profiles and we reinforce connectivity with Great Britain, mainly, although we also create new routes for the future on the Island,” Perdomo pointed out.

For his part, the CEO of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, Héctor Fernández, explained that “there are about five meetings planned that revolve around sustainability and to underpin the Island's positioning in the British market as a sustainable tourist destination.”

“It will be an intense work of several days focused on providing the world with the best image of Lanzarote as a destination and making known the improvements in our tourism model in order to reinforce current markets and create new opportunities in line with what we have been developing,” added Fernández.

In this 43rd edition of the World Travel Market, more than 2,500 tourism representatives from more than 100 countries around the world are attending, who will present their products and destination offers.
