The Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, announced at a press conference that "the national market occupies a prominent position in this increase and the prospects we have for the winter season are quite positive, taking into account that the seats with the peninsula grow by 11.3%", added Castilla.
All the islands benefit from this increase in air capacity with the peninsula, highlighting Lanzarote (+29.1%), Fuerteventura (21.8%) and La Palma (+18.7%).
The national market is the second fastest growing market at the regional level, only surpassed by Germany, with 12.8% more seats for this high season.
"Despite this and the cancellations that have occurred due to the sixth wave, the air capacity of the winter season still registers an increase of 9% compared to the pre-pandemic era," said Castilla.
