The Iberostar hotel group, owner of 78 hotels around the world, will apply for permits this year to remodel the Selection Lanzarote Park hotel in Playa Blanca.
This was confirmed by Finn Ackermann, commercial director of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, in an interview with the tourism news portal Hosteltur.
The Iberostar group has 32 hotels in Spain and eleven of them are in the Canary Islands. In addition to the Lanzarote Park, the chain owns another three hotels in Fuerteventura and seven in Tenerife.
A year ago, the Majorcan chain agreed to an alliance with the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), from which the Iberostar Beachfront Resorts brand emerged, which includes the aforementioned establishments.
In its latest year-end balance, the Iberostar Group put the hotel division's investment at 210 million euros. Ackermann confirmed that this money will be used not only to renovate the hotel in Lanzarote, but also others such as the Selection Palace in Fuerteventura, whose permits have already been granted so that it will close in the summer to begin the remodeling works.
In addition to the 32 hotels in Spain, Iberostar owns another seven hotels in Europe, specifically in Greece, Montenegro and Portugal.
It also has another 28 hotels in the American continent from the United States to Brazil, with numerous establishments in the Caribbean. Lately it is also projecting itself in Africa and already has two hotels in Morocco and eight in Tunisia.
