The Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Directorate General of Infrastructure, Sustainability and Tourist Quality, has granted the Teguise City Council, in Lanzarote, a subsidy of 145,000 euros intended to finance the drafting of various projects for actions to improve pedestrian accessibility in Costa Teguise.

This initiative has been supported as it is considered aligned with the Canary Islands Strategy for Insular Tourist Infrastructures, specifically in the line of accessibility, safe mobility, and connectivity, defined for the island of Lanzarote within the axis of sustainable mobility and improvement of accessibility.

According to the report presented, the actions consist of improving road and pedestrian safety in high-traffic areas, with the renovation and expansion of roadways, sidewalks, and curb ramps. Likewise, the work includes the installation of tactile paving, horizontal and vertical signage, and the restoration and modernization of street furniture.

The projects will be developed on various streets and public spaces in the municipality of Teguise. Specifically, the following will be improved: Los Corales Avenue, El Sardinero Avenue, Las Palmeras Avenue, and Mar Avenue (pier), as well as Las Tuneras, Las Higuerillas, Los Volcanes, Las Aulagas, Las Rosas, Los Geranios, La Goleta, Los Dragos, and Las Conchas streets.

All these actions refer to improving the quality of the tourist destination Costa Teguise, with zero environmental impact as they are infrastructure adaptation works, where tourists and residents are the main protagonists.

The interventions also include the coastal walkway from the amphitheater to Los Charcos beach.
