César Manrique Airport in Lanzarote received 606,596 passengers in June, 0.4% more than in 2019

The César Manrique Airport of Lanzarote registered a total of 606,596 passengers in the month of June, 0.4% more than in the same period of 2019, thus becoming the third airport with the most passenger traffic in the Canary Islands, as reported by Aena.

Specifically, the Canary Islands airports have received more than 3,422,335 million passengers in the sixth month of the year, although it is on the verge of matching the figures prior to the appearance of Covid, with only 2.8% less compared to 2019.

Of the total number of commercial passengers (3,393,697), 1,560,660 correspond to national traffic, 2.4% less, and 1,833,037 to international traffic, 3% less than in the same month of 2019. The airports of the archipelago with the highest passenger traffic were those of Gran Canaria and Tenerife South, with 926,433 (-5.4%) and 804,767 (-1.9%) respectively. For their part, the airports of La Gomera, El Hierro and Lanzarote register a higher number of travelers than in the same period of 2019 (15.8%, 1.8% and 0.4 more respectively).

 

Operations and freight traffic in the Canary Islands fall

With regard to the number of operations, the Canary Islands airports registered 31,455 movements in June, 1.6% less than in the same month of the year prior to Covid. Of the total commercial operations, 18,732 were national (-3.9%) and 11,284 international (+1.3%).

As for freight traffic, 2,560 tons were transported, 11.8% less than in June 2019. In the first semester of the year, the number of passengers registered in the Canary Islands airports amounts to 19,895,858, 10.5% less than in the same period of 2019.

Of the total number of commercial passengers (19,684,466), 7,936,061 correspond to national flights, -6.8%, and 11,748,405 to international flights, 13.2% less. The number of operations registered during the first six months of the year was 191,317 (-6.2%) and the freight traffic, 16,018 tons (-13%).
