International travelers who visited the archipelago in 2024 spent a total of 22,887 million euros, 12.6% more than the previous year, according to the latest tourist spending survey published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
However, the growth in spending is accompanied by a growth in the number of international tourists of 9%, one million more people up to 15.2 million, a historical record in the archipelago.
At the national level, the total spending by non-resident tourists in Spain during 2024 was 126,282 million euros, which represented an increase of 16.1% compared to 2023.
Only Catalonia, where spending amounted to 23,745 million, earned more than the Canary Islands among the autonomous communities. There, the increase is equivalent to 11.8% compared to the previous year.
After the Canary Islands, the highest level of spending occurred in the Balearic Islands, which with 20,052 million euros, represents 13.3% more.
The country that spent the most in 2024 at the national level was the United Kingdom, with 22,602 million euros, 13.5% more than in 2023.
They were followed by Germany (with 15,527 million and an increase of 17.6%) and France (with 11,014 million, 13.1% more).
