Arrecife has launched in Madrid, coinciding with the celebration of the Fitur 2025 International Tourism Fair, a visual promotional campaign where it exhibits the great potential of the capital of Lanzarote for nautical sports.
From today, and until the end of this month of January, the enormous screens of the emblematic Cine Callao, in the square of the same name, and corner of the Gran Vía in Madrid, continuously project videos with the tourist attractions of Arrecife under the slogan of the "Canary Islands port two hours from Madrid".
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Sports, Eli Merino, presented this promotional initiative on Tuesday afternoon outside the Cine Callao, in Madrid, to "attract potential national tourists who plan their annual vacations in destinations with nautical sports facilities".
The presentation, which was attended by island, regional and Peninsular media, is part of the actions being carried out by the Arrecife Department of Tourism and Sports to attract national and international visitors to Lanzarote who have sailing among their priorities for enjoyment and entertainment.
The mayor announced that "in Madrid there is a potential for new visitors who may have Arrecife as their base port for their considered length boats, which until now dock in Valencia and other Mediterranean ports. However, the good climate of Lanzarote throughout the year, and the good air connectivity of the César Manrique Lanzarote airport with Madrid allow Arrecife to capture this segment of tourism with high spending capacity at the destination".
For her part, Councilor Eli Merino, stressed during this presentation, that her Department "is supporting sports events in all modalities, and strategically sailing, which generates a high return in the local economy. This is confirmed by the data both in cruise tourism and sports linked to the sea, where the city of Arrecife is experiencing a great boom in recent times".
