A photograph taken in Lanzarote has been one of the two winning images of the second edition of the Volotea Travel Photo Awards organized by the Spanish airline.
Volotea, which connects Lanzarote with Oviedo and the French cities of Brest, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Lille, Lyon, Nantes, and Toulouse, has revealed the names of the winners of the 2nd edition of the competition, which seeks to "celebrate the creativity of its passengers and highlight the authenticity and diversity of the European destinations where it operates."
In the Amateur category, the winner was the French photographer Clarisse Dupuis, with her photograph “Le vent dans tes cheveux défaits” (“The wind in your disheveled hair”), taken in Lanzarote, “which captures a decisive moment and transmits the energy of the journey.”
"In Lanzarote, the landscapes that parade by like fantastical sets are of an overwhelming beauty. Except for the trade winds, which never stop," Dupuis explained. The prize consists of flights worth 1,000 euros, a backpack, and a digital camera.
In the Professional category, the award went to Italian photographer Rachele Cason, for her work “Nel silenzio del tramonto” (“In the Silence of Dusk”), taken in Santorini, a piece that the jury highlights for “its aesthetic force and the solidity of its composition.”
"After ringing the bells, a man sits to contemplate a landscape that is not only beauty, but also an intimate story of light, silence, and timeless gestures," the photographer points out.
Professional and amateur photographers from all over Europe participated in this edition, submitting a total of more than 8,000 photographs between both categories.
The winners of both categories were selected by a jury of renowned prestige, composed of leading figures in photography and communication at an international level: Chiara Goia, documentary photographer and regular contributor to National Geographic; Julien Fabro, photographer and videographer specializing in adventures; Mònica Figueras, contemporary style photographer; Dominique Bovet, editorial director of Lonely Planet France; and Sandra Rikić, Communications Director of Volotea.
