Canarians who bought homes in November showed a lower willingness to take out a mortgage than the national average.
The Canary Islands thus became the only autonomous community in which mortgages fell by 17.7% in November 2021, according to the Regional Real Estate Statistics of the Association of Registrars, which analyzes the sale and purchase of mortgages registered in that month in relation to the years 2020 and 2019.
The total number of mortgages registered in the archipelago in November 2021 was 1,359, while in the same month of 2020 there were 1,652, thus contemplating a variation of -17.7%. Compared to the same month of 2019, the total registered was 1,665, showing a variation of -18.4% -more than 300 fewer operations- with respect to 2021.
However, the sale of homes registered in the Islands in November 2021 was 3,303, with 668 more operations than in the same period of the previous year (+25%). If we compare with November 2019, the increase was 19.3% more.
As for the number of total sales at the national level, there was an increase of 18.7% compared to November 2020, going from 78,511 operations to 93,178 in the same month of 2021. In 2019, the total operations were 74,573.
Total mortgages in Spain went from 38,474 in November 2020 to 47,449 in November 2021, with an increase of 23%.
