Lanzarote is once again positioning itself as a leading gastronomic destination at the 38th edition of the Salón Gourmets in Madrid, where it is present through Saborea Lanzarote. The fair, which is held from this Monday, April 7 to Thursday, April 10, is the largest event dedicated to high-end products in Europe and a unique opportunity to showcase the richness and uniqueness of Lanzarote's cuisine.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has highlighted the importance of this event for the island. "Our participation in the Salón Gourmets consolidates our commitment to the primary sector and gastronomy as key elements of our identity and tourist attraction. It is an unbeatable opportunity to show the world the quality of our products and the talent of our chefs."
In this sense, the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, has stressed that "Saborea Lanzarote is a fundamental platform for the projection of our enogastronomy at the national and international level, betting on innovation without losing the essence and tradition that make our cuisine unique."
A schedule with a lot of flavor
Throughout the four days of the fair, Saborea Lanzarote will deploy a varied agenda of activities, with tastings, pairings and samplings of emblematic products of the island. Thus, a dozen wineries of the Lanzarote Designation of Origin, artisan cheese factories of the AQUAL Association and a wide variety of local and innovative producers who combine tradition and culinary creativity, through jams, gofios, chocolates, beers, Janubio salt or liqueurs will participate in Salón Gourmets.
The Salón Gourmets will be, once again, the stage where Lanzarote exhibits the richness of its pantry and the creativity of its professionals. The island comes with the aim of strengthening its presence in the gastronomic market and strengthening the ties between producers, chefs and distributors, consolidating a gastronomic model based on quality and local identity.
Meeting with young university students
During the inaugural day this Monday, the island's president, Oswaldo Betancort, together with the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, held a meeting with university students from the island in Madrid to share opinions on the challenges and opportunities of local gastronomy in a global context. This space served to inspire the new generations to get involved in the defense and promotion of local products and the traditional recipes of the island.
In this regard, Oswaldo Betancort stated that "our young people are the best ambassadors of Lanzarote. They represent the future of our island and should be proud of their roots, of our products that taste like home, that tell stories and that speak of our land."
For her part, Nori Machín stressed that "seeing students passionate about our own, interested in knowing and projecting the flavors of Lanzarote, is a sign that we are sowing well. We are committed to youth as an engine of innovation and authenticity, because they are the ones who can best convey to the world what it means to eat on this island."
