Saborea Lanzarote will be present on November 10 and 11 at the Final of the National Contest of Pinchos and Tapas City of Valladolid, considered the most prestigious event in Spain in the field of miniature gastronomy. The event brings together some of the best chefs in the country each year, as well as specialized press, gastronomic critics, producers, and companies linked to the culinary sector
Thanks to the agreement reached between the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the City Council of Valladolid, the Canary Islands will participate in this final in a structured manner for the first time, with three spots reserved for chefs from the Archipelago.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlights that “this agreement opens new opportunities for promotion and recognition for Canarian talent in a highly competitive arena. Lanzarote continues to consolidate its presence in strategic spaces, reinforcing the link between gastronomy, territory, and identity”.
For her part, the Minister of Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, explains that “being present in Valladolid allows us to connect our professionals with innovative trends, exchange knowledge and visibility, and position Canarian cuisine within the country's most influential gastronomic dynamics”.
The Canary Islands representatives for this edition will be Antonio Rodríguez Medina, from Hotel Costa Calero (Lanzarote); Josué Martín Hernández, from El Altillo Gastro Bar (La Palma); and Raúl Bodego Pérez, from La Bahía de Puerto Lajas (Fuerteventura). Three proposals that combine local produce, territory, tradition, and culinary innovation, highlighting the quality of Canarian recipes in tapa format.
The competition, organized for 21 editions by the Valladolid City Council, has established itself as a national showcase for new talent and a dissemination platform for the hospitality sector. Furthermore, it is part of the official calendar of Saborea España, a network that works to position gastronomic tourism as a cultural, sustainable, and quality experience.
Lanzarote, host of the first qualifying edition of the Canary Islands Tapas Competition
As part of the agreement reached, Lanzarote will organize the first qualifying edition of the Canary Islands Tapas Competition, which will serve to officially select the archipelago's representatives for the national event. The island will thus become the host of an event that will bring together chefs, producers, and professionals from all over the Canary Islands, generating economic activity, visibility, and training opportunities.
The councilor states that "hosting this competition demonstrates the level Lanzarote has reached within the Saborea España network and reinforces our commitment to a gastronomy based on local products, innovation, and continuous training".
Machín adds that "being the venue for the qualifying round will boost the island's gastronomic ecosystem, attract talent, and foster knowledge exchange, contributing to the islands' progress in creativity, competitiveness, and national recognition"
