Last Saturday, the Casa-Museo del Campesino was the scene of the ninth edition of the collective toast organized by the Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils (CECRV) in honor of the Día Vino D.O. The Designation of Origin Vinos de Lanzarote brought together dozens of people to join, together with another 32 denominations in the country, this tribute to wine with identity, history and roots.
The festive day, which had a large participation of professionals from the sector and the general public, was much more than a tasting, it became a declaration of principles.
The objective, shared by all the participating denominations, was to bring the wine with denomination of origin closer to the citizens and make its positive impact on the development of rural areas visible.
“We defend the great cultural, economic and social work of the denominations of origin. It is an honor to join this celebration, together with another thirty-two denominations of origin, to make visible the importance and its fundamental role in the history of the towns in the rural environment”, declared Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Vinos de Lanzarote.
This symbolic gesture of raising glasses represents much more than a toast, it is an act of vindication of the heritage, economic and social value of wine with Denomination of Origin. A wine that, in words and actions, continues to be a link of identity and a driving force for territories such as Lanzarote.
The celebration in Lanzarote had "an excellent reception, demonstrating the roots of wine culture on the island and the growing interest of the population in quality wines with local designation of origin", concludes the statement from the Regulatory Council.
