The Yaiza Town Hall has approved the call and the specific bases for the temporary provision, through voluntary service commission, of five positions of local police with the aim of reinforcing the municipal staff.
The resolution, signed on July 27 and published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas (BOP), responds to the "urgent and unavoidable" need to fill several positions that have become vacant, mostly due to retirement.
The five positions correspond to civil servants of group C1 of the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, with a destination complement level of 18 and an annual specific complement of 17,974.32 euros. The positions are intended for the Local Police service and require a minimum qualification of a Baccalaureate, second-grade Vocational Training, or an equivalent qualification.
The City Council has opted to use the service commission formula, considering it the fastest way to guarantee service continuity while ordinary selection processes are developed. The positions may be filled by career civil servants belonging to other Local Police forces in the Canary Islands, provided they have authorization from their originating administration.
The service commission will have a maximum duration of six months, although it may be exceptionally extended up to a maximum of 18 months if the vacancies are included in the next call for definitive provision and continue to be unfilled.
Among the requirements to participate are being in active service as a career civil servant, holding A2 and B driving licenses, not having physical limitations that prevent the performance of operational service, having no serious or very serious disciplinary record, and not being disqualified from exercising public functions. In addition, applicants must have at least two years remaining before moving to the second activity status due to age.
The selection will be made through a merit-based competition in which academic training, completion of courses related to police activity, attendance at security conferences and seminars, and professional experience will be evaluated. The latter will be the section with the greatest weight, potentially reaching up to four points for seniority in the Local Police force.
The deadline for submitting applications will be ten business days counted from the day after the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands. Applications must be submitted preferably through the electronic headquarters of the Yaiza City Council, accompanied by the documentation proving the requirements and the merits alleged.
The bases also contemplate the creation of a pool of Local Police officers with the candidates who are deemed suitable, in order to meet future needs for temporary coverage through service commissions until the positions are permanently filled. The procedure and its results will be published on the notice board and on the electronic headquarters of the City Council.
