Unemployment decreases by more than 300 people in Lanzarote in September

The island accumulates five months of decreases in unemployment figures, while in the Canary Islands as a whole it also decreases, although at a slower rate

Last September, a total of 309 people left the unemployment lists in Lanzarote, according to data released this Wednesday by the Canarian Employment Observatory (Obecan).

This is the fifth consecutive month in which unemployment has fallen on the island and it also does so strongly, by 4%, which leaves the total number of people in unemployment at 7,383 citizens.

The figure is 8.3% lower than that recorded twelve months ago when the total number of unemployed exceeded 8,000 people, specifically 8,054.

By municipalities, the largest percentage decreases occurred in Haría (-7.2%) and Tinajo (-6.5%), which is equivalent to 23 and 22 fewer people, respectively, in unemployment.

In absolute numbers, the largest drop is located in Arrecife, where there are 114 fewer people unemployed, a decrease of 3%.

Next Teguise and Tías, both with a decrease of 5.4%, which translates into 49 and 45 fewer unemployed respectively.

In Yaiza the fall has been 4.6%, which is equivalent to 26 fewer unemployed, and in San Bartolomé 3.4% equivalent to 30 fewer unemployed.

In the Canary Islands as a whole, the number of unemployed fell by 4,375 people, which represents a decrease of 2.7%, bringing the total number of unemployed in the archipelago to 158,670 citizens, 6.7% less than there were at the end of September last year.
