The general secretary of UGT Canarias, Manuel Navarro, considers "positive" the capacity to generate employment that the archipelago has demonstrated in recent months.
"We come from a stage marked by a downward trend in the number of unemployed registered in the islands, but from our perspective it is necessary to continue betting on training if what we want is to opt for full employment,” Navarro indicates in a statement.
Unemployment fell in July in the Canary Islands by 972 people, 0.59 percent less than in June and with an annual variation of 8,895 fewer unemployed.
According to the data released today, at the national level the number of people registered in the offices of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) decreased for the sixth consecutive month in July by 10,830 people compared to June, to 2,550,237, the month with the lowest unemployment since 2008.
According to these data, in the Canary Islands there are 166,488 people registered as unemployed, of which 84,970 are in the province of Las Palmas and 78,518 in that of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
