The regularization carried out by the Tías City Council to have 70 of its workers become permanent labor personnel last year meant that Tías closed 2023 with the largest increase in public workers of all the local entities on the island, reaching a total of 336.
The Cabildo also increased its staff of public workers, it did so by 22 people to reach a total of 1,222 at the close of 2023, according to the Lanzarote Data Center based on figures from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics.
The councils of San Bartolomé and Yaiza added 5 and 2 public employees respectively during 2023 to a total of 284 and 249 workers each.
In contrast, Tinajo was the city council that lost the most public workers last year, with 25 fewer employees, remaining at 118 at the close of 2023.
Haría was the second, as it reduced its staff of public workers by 13 people to a total of 96 employees.
The city councils of Teguise and Arrecife also lost public employees. At the close of 2023, Teguise had 10 fewer public employees than at the end of the previous year, totaling 258, while in the capital, 8 public employees were lost, totaling 483.
