The Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, has just announced a new increase in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) for 2025 retroactively from January 1.
The agreement has been agreed with the unions and foresees an increase to 1,184 euros per month in fourteen payments or 1,388.33 euros if prorated in 12 payments, which is equivalent to 50 euros more than last year. Thus, in annual terms, the gross salary will amount to 16,576 euros.
The minister has said that the measure will be approved with "imminent character", so it seems very likely that it will be confirmed in the Council of Ministers next Tuesday, February 4.
Since 2018, the year in which the minimum wage was 736 euros, the total increase with the new increase reaches 448 euros per month. SMI recipients do not have to pay taxes on personal income tax.
