Lanzarote is the island that reduced unemployment the least in July, but is at historical employment highs

Unemployment fell in Lanzarote by 0.2% in July, compared to a decrease of 2% in La Palma and 1.7% in Fuerteventura.

The number of unemployed in Lanzarote decreased minimally in July to 7,723 people, which once again marks a historical minimum for the island, according to data from the Canarian Employment Observatory (Obecan).

A year ago Lanzarote had 8,233 unemployed, while before the Covid 19 pandemic, in July 2019, there were 10,672 people.

However, the decrease this July in the number of unemployed in Lanzarote, thirteen fewer people in unemployment, is equivalent to 0.2%, the smallest drop among the Canary Islands.

The island where unemployment decreased the most in July was La Gomera, which reduced its figures by 5.6%. Next is La Palma, where unemployment fell by 2%.

In El Hierro and Fuerteventura, unemployment fell by 1.9% and 1.7% respectively.

After Lanzarote, the capital islands were the ones that created the least employment in July. In Gran Canaria unemployment fell by 0.5%, while in Tenerife it did so by 0.4%.
