In April, Lanzarote added 176 new contributors to Social Security, reaching 70,417 affiliates. The island thus consolidates surpassing the 70,000 contributors reached in March.
Never before has the island had such a high number of contributors. A year ago, the number of contributors was 65,985 people, so the year-on-year growth stands at 6.7%.
The economic sectors that are contributing the most are hospitality, which represents 30% of the contributors, and commerce, which accounts for 15% of the island's affiliates to the Public Institute.
By municipalities, the contributors from Arrecife account for 40% of the total, while Teguise occupies second place, with 15% of the island's contributors.
Tías and San Bartolomé contribute a very similar percentage of affiliations, around 12.5% each.
For its part, Yaiza represents 11% of the contributors, while the municipalities of Tinajo and Haría account for 4.4% and 3.1% of the affiliations respectively.
