Lanzarote and Yaiza, the island and the municipality with the lowest unemployment in the Canary Islands

Teguise, Tías and San Bartolomé are also below 10% and occupy the third, fourth and fifth place

Lanzarote was the Canary Island with the lowest rate of job seekers registered in the first quarter of 2024 with 9.14%, while the average for the archipelago is 15.03%, according to data published by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) with data from the Canary Islands Employment Service.

In addition, Lanzarote has four of the five Canary Islands municipalities with the fewest registered job seekers. The lowest rate in the archipelago is in Yaiza, where it amounts to 6.5%.

Third place is for Teguise, with 7.8%, followed by Tías in fourth place, with 8.1% and San Bartolomé with 8.4% completes the quintet.

Among the five municipalities with the fewest job seekers in the Canary Islands, there is only one municipality from outside Lanzarote, it is Pájara, which with a rate of 6.8%, is the second municipality in the archipelago with the lowest unemployment.

In the opposite case, the islands with the highest rate of registered job seekers are Gran Canaria (16.76%) and La Palma (16.19%).

At the municipality level, Tazacorte, in La Palma, (21.9%), followed by Moya, in Gran Canaria, (20.6%), Garafía, in Tenerife, (20.5%), Vallehermoso, in La Gomera, (20.1%) and Agaete, in Gran Canaria (19.7%).
