The island of Lanzarote registered a slight increase in unemployment of 0.2%, equivalent to 11 more unemployed people for a total of 6,791 unemployed, according to data from the Canary Employment Observatory (Obecan).
The only other Canary Island where unemployment rose in April was La Gomera, in this case with a strong increase of 7.6% to a total of 1,018 unemployed.
Taken together, the Canary Islands registered a decrease in unemployment of 0.8%, equivalent to 1,138 people who left the unemployment lists until the total for the archipelago stood at 145,361 unemployed people.
The biggest drop in unemployment was seen in Fuerteventura, where it fell by 2.1% (116 fewer people unemployed). The total for the neighboring island amounts to 5,531.
Next, El Hierro, where the decrease was 1.2%, which means seven fewer people on the unemployment lists. The total number of unemployed people in El Hierro now stands at 583 people.
In La Palma the drop in unemployment was 1%, that is, 61 fewer unemployed, so its total is currently 5,950 unemployed.
Unemployment fell by the same percentage (0.8%) in both Gran Canaria, which reduced unemployment by 500 people, and in Tenerife, where the decrease was equivalent.
