There are places you don't just visit, but feel. La Graciosa is one of them. Just a 25-minute boat ride from Órzola, this small island within the Biosphere Reserve welcomes you with a silent promise: here, there are no cars, no asphalt, and no rush. Only white sand, turquoise waters, dormant volcanoes, and paths that invite you to move slowly, by bicycle or on foot.

The adventure begins even before setting foot on land. From the port of Órzola, the ferry to La Graciosa by Biosfera Express takes you to Caleta del Sebo with departures every half hour, enough space to bring your own bike or one you rent upon arrival, and the comfort of knowing that everything is designed so you don't have to worry about anything more than enjoying the open sea and the first view of the island silhouetted against the horizon. The ferries are spacious, modern, and allow you to bring whatever luggage you need: backpack, cooler, surfboard, or the bike that will be your companion for the next few days.

La Graciosa on wheels: cycling between volcanoes and pristine beaches

Upon disembarking the ferry, the smell of salt and the breeze remind you that time stands still here. Renting a bicycle (there are several shops in Caleta del Sebo) is the freest way to discover the island. The classic route begins along the dirt path that leaves the village to the north: first Playa de las Conchas, with its sand so white it's blinding and a turquoise sea that seems unreal; then Playa del Ámbar (or Lambra), where the feeling of being at the end of the world is absolute.

The terrain is smooth, without any major climbs until you reach Pedro Bajo, the other only inhabited nucleus (four houses and silence). From there, a path leads to the base of Montaña Bermeja, where you leave your bike and walk the last 200 meters to contemplate one of the most spectacular views in the Canary Islands: La Graciosa entirely at your feet, with Lanzarote and the islets of the Chinijo Archipelago in the background. The effort of pedaling is worth every second. On clear days, from the top, you can even see the dunes of Corralejo in Fuerteventura

The Essential Circular Route: Mar de Caletas and Montaña Bermeja

If you prefer to walk, the circular route starting from Caleta del Sebo towards the south is pure magic. The path first takes you to Playa Francesca and Playa de la Cocina, two postcard-perfect coves protected by Montaña Amarilla. The contrast of the volcanic red with the white sand and the turquoise water is one that stays with you forever. From there, the trail gently ascends to the Mirador del Río, naturally formed by Montaña Bermeja.

At the summit, the wind caresses and the silence is so profound that one can only hear their own heartbeat and the crashing of waves hundreds of meters below. Descending on the other side, passing by Las Conchas beach again or through the interior among reddish volcanic cones, completes a perfect circle of barely 4-5 hours that encapsulates the very essence of La Graciosa: untouched nature, absolute calm, and the satisfaction of having arrived through one's own effort.

A destination to be savored

On La Graciosa, there are no nightclubs, no shopping malls, and no roads. Just eight square kilometers of freedom where time loses its meaning. Here, disconnection is real: sleeping in a converted fisherman's cottage, eating fresh fish or seafood rice in Caleta del Sebo, watching the sunset from any beach with no one else around, walking barefoot on the sand at dawn, or simply lying under a tamarisk tree and letting the hours drift by.

The island has only 700 inhabitants, and most of them live from the sea and sustainable tourism. Every step you take is a reminder of what it means to respect such a special place in the Canary Islands' geography, where there are no trash cans because no waste is generated, there is no electricity in many areas because the starry night is part of the show, and fresh water arrives by boat, so it is conserved drop by drop.

La Graciosa is not just another destination. It is a travel philosophy for moving slowly, breathing deeply, and remembering that happiness fits on a bicycle or in a good pair of walking boots, offering unforgettable experiences for all those who hope for new adventures.

You already know the first step, so all you have to do is book your ticket with Biosfera Express and leave the asphalt behind. La Graciosa awaits you just as it always has: pristine, tranquil, and absolutely unique, offering you the experience you've always dreamed of on Canarian soil.
